Paul, Just had the cp-1 put on. (Thanks for the Swing Slings, by the way) Wow, I can't stay on! My question is, should I row strapless with the cp-1? I learned to row strapless (regular rowing) from the beginning so there wasn't an option to learn strapped. But with the cp-1, it is much harder (only...

cp-1

Hi all,
I am curious about the CP-1. Who uses it, what are the benefits of use, and is it more of a piece of equipment for "mega - serious" users (which I am not.) I am enjoying my erg and would like to get the most out of the workouts.
Thanks

Since getting my new D, I have tried various things to cushion my heel. I, too, row shoe-less and strap-less, but have found out the hard that heel blisters HURT!! My latest solution consist of folded soft material (actually old kids clothes that were in the rag box) that lies inside the heel area o...

Good job! I didn't make my goal; I exercised 18 of the 31 days in March. I was going to do both elliptical and the c2, but did mostly the c2. We were hit really hard with the flu during the month and that set me back. But we are now healthy and life goes on. Now the goal is to lose 5 pounds in April...

First week - not so good. The kids got influenza b and have been sick for a week. Of course, I got it too. Haven't moved off the couch since Tuesday; my body is sore and all I can think about are my muscles atrophying because I am not exercising. Will this never end! Hope to have a better week comin...

March Madness - what are your goals?

Here it is March already! But when will the snow end.... What are your goals for this month? If we put them in writting, then we will be more prone to accompolish them! Plus, the more you row this month, the more chances you are to win something! I will row 4 x week and do the eliptical 2 x week. No...

Grams, Yes, I was strapless; due to a huge blister from the onset, I have only rowed strapless. How did it feel? I think it was about the same. I was really concentrating on keeping my strokes low and pushing off from my heels. I tried to see if I was going 10mps, and was the times I checked. I thin...

OK, tried rowing slower yesterday. Previously, as discussed, I have done basically 7800 meters at 28 stroke rate for 40 minutes. Yesterday, after concentrating on my stroke rate, I accomplished 7812 meters in 41:26 minutes at 22 stroke rate. Should this be what I am aiming for? Is this a better work...

Urowgirl, I think most people would feel that a stroke rate of 28 is high for a general training row of 40 minutes, when you are not racing. So, yes, over the next several months it probably would be good for you to work on taking less stokes per minute but generating more power each stroke and ove...

For novices, I'd start them in the 20-24 range. Until their technique is good, they are likely to find it difficult to row below 18. Novices will be able to row at high rating but not with good technique. OK, I am new to all this; got my D mid January. Am I to glean from this that it is better to g...

Hello, I am new to rowing; got my new D in the middle of January. As I watched the video from C2 with the Oarsome Foursome, they rowed barefoot, so of course I thought I would, too. Bad choice, I got huge blisters that really, really hurt. After several days of trying to figure something out, I rigg...

Jon,
Thanks for the formula. After plugging in my numbers, adjusted calorie burned is about 90 calories less than the PM.

As to the more sophisticated process, I don't think I am up for that, as I am expiring a lot of gas as it is!

Thanks

Thanks for the replies; though both seem to be at odds with each other. The calories burned does seem to be high; but the comparison to the HRM seems to be on an equal parr. I think I will go on the "it does rate them accurate" side because that makes me happier.
Thanks

calorie burned - accurate?

Hi, I have been using my new D since the middle of January. Still working on technique and endurance. I can row for about 40 minutes (a TV episode of Alias season 3) and get about 7600 meters. I use a 2 and a half damper with a C Breaze on. (Don't ask about my DF because I have no idea what you are ...
