Thanks for the the advice. After considering all what you've said, I've decided to go for a whole banana -- btw, the other half went to my other half  ) -- and some orange juice. I only take milk in my cereal, and like I said, it's just to get it wet...but I'll cut that out as well. The reason...

What to Eat Before a Workout

This topic may have been covered before, so forgive me if this is a repeat. I just got back from the gym...I go at 8 a.m.. Around 7 a.m., I have half a banana, and a very small amount of whole grain cereal with a smattering of skim milk. I feel I need something before I go for my workout, and I thou...

Bad knees, bad shoulders, bad habits... Easily bored, easily distracted, easily discouraged... Out of shape, out of luck, out of time... For all these reasons, I was led to the erg, and haven't looked back since. Finally an exercise that doesn't bother my knees, is curiously gentle on my shoulder, a...

Spinning vs Rowing

..talked to my sister yesterday, extolling the virtues of rowing to her. She's an avid gym goer, spinning being her choice for cardio. She said she tried rowing, but could hardly get past 5 minutes. I don't get it. :? Spinning (45 min) is a pretty intense cardio workout. I would have thought that if...

Bad Bad Habit

Just got back from the gym, a little worse for wear. While erging, I tend to watch the tv which is situated up and a bit to my left. Now it seems I've developed a nasty habit of favouring or however you want to put it, my left shoulder. It seems to cramp and if I'm not mistaken, I'd even say it appe...

I'm trying to avoid the coffee too, but I can't seem to do it for long. A good cup of Earl Grey can almost take it's place. I'm also into tofu jerky, weird eh? I'm beginning to think I may have to change my vices...hmm..coffee, chocolate AND I've been known to enjoy a glass of red wine with my even...

As for vice, I do enjoy a little piece of dark chocolate (80 to 85% cocoa) with a cup of herb tea after lunch and dinner. Indulge in your little vice, as long as it is done in moderation, it adds some spice to life! I couldn't agree with you more! On both counts! Dark chocolate ranks ...

What's Your Vice

A recent discussion about heartrate and the suggestion that cutting caffeine can make a difference in your RHR, got me to thinking. Coffee is something I have NO intention on giving up, no matter how positively it can affect my heartrate. I never really considered it a vice, but having just gobbled ...

Another thing to consider is when do you measure your RHR. Is it at wake up time while still lying in your bed, or is it when your are sitting at your desk? Also, any physical activity one does will affect the RHR for several hours. Coffee, alcohol, smoking, etc. have also an impact on RHR Francois...

I'm really impressed with these resting heartrates, as mine currently stands at 68 bpm. I'm a 46 yr old female. I guess I have a way to go ...
I know there is a direct correlation between fitness level and rhr, but is 68 an acceptable number?

Perhaps not on topic, and perhaps not pc, considering this is a website in honour of the C2, but your post reminded me of something I was meaning to ask. Has anyone ever used the Kettler machine? They're pretty common here and a great deal cheaper than the C2. I'm a believer in 'you get what you pay...

Invincible IPOD

..taking my gym gear out of the washer, when shock of all shocks, out came my Ipod Shuffle with it. After I recovered (although it was the cheapest Ipod I could find, it was still my erging 'buddy'), I dried the poor thing off, blew out as much water as I could, and lay it down in the hopes ...

Resting heartrates of 34, 35? That's incredible. Does anyone else think that's maybe a little too low?
