Thanks for the info. Very interesting article... Here's another question on a similar topic: When I do pieces with the HRM, I tend to always start at a higher pace than I finish. If I don't reduce the pressure, my HR will always end-up too high. Is that the right way to do these workouts? Or should ...

Max HR

What does a max HR test consist of?

I've been using the generic formula 220 - Age which is 185 for me. Today, while doing a high intensity short piece, I saw my heart climbing up to 189. Should I use this value instead of 185?

Thanks!

Do you use a HRM?

I find that I have to taper down my pace throughout the workout in order to keep from my heart rate to climb above the upper bracket. Frustrating, but it seems to work.

Does anyone see that too?

I don't think communicating is that critical - just like OTW. The stroke sets a rhythm and everyone else matches it. Now sure if your stroke is getting lazy, cuss' him out and get moving.. Seriously, I think when you follow your stroke, make sure you focus on him/her more than on your monitor.

I think it's a matter of how flexible you are. In my opinion, you're probably more efficient if you don't lift the heel up. You'll have a more steady platform to push from at the catch if your foot is resting flat. If your heels rise way up so you can reach further forward, you may want to drop the ...

You don't tell us how tall you are, but I agree that this kind of stroke rate is not something anyone uses for anything else but sprints. Try to stretch out your stroke; reach further and respect proper stroke rhythm. Observe videos of rowers (YouTube has a ton of them) and get a feel for what you s...

UK site weight loss programs

I am looking at the weight loss programs generated o nthe UK site. It includes a lot of AT and TR work where I thought low heart rate for long durations was supposed to be more efficient for weight loss (less the 1/2 of the workouts are UT1).

What is the reason behind that?

Sliding forward is probably more frequent, but I've seen people sliding back as well. I don't know what your floor is, but if you can drill into it, you can always mount wood blocks behind your machine. Otherwise, get a fitness mat of some sort placed under your machine, it should help get a grip if...
