i agree with The Matinator. I like to have my hands on the very ends of the handle so my smallest finger barely hangs off. this also helps out at the finish because it reduces that aqward feel. With your hands closer you might feel a little more power but you lose some distance in the finish.

i like to leave the setting around a 4-5 which is average and feels the most like the water. And for the strength improvement, if your not going your your pr for a 2k a higher drag will obviously give you more resistance and work your muscles more. nice work out.

i like to erg at a 4-5ish (drag around 115) for my 2k. because its more like the axual water. but i am just a novice. Also a great thing about the ergs is you can rush the slide as much as you want because you dont have to worry about checking the boat which is a huge advantage.

Eddie

maybe theres a technique issue? If theres a fault in your technique and your not using your muscles to their full ability you might be losing a lot of power. Good luck.

Eddie

i think it also depends on the stroke rating your following. i personally try to take one breath per stroke...but my breathes are random.

Usualy when your racing or erging you are so focused you dont even think about your breathing.

Eddie
