Hi mileypau,

I started rowing again about 6 weeks ago, and quickly got into the SPI game and low spm. If you look around the board you will find lots of posts about it. I have the drag set at 120 and am aiming at 10.5 spi. The whole point is that there is no higher stroke power, but rather th...

Hi!

I think that there is another post on this, so take a look around. Also check the uk site. I use a small folded towel, it seems to work well. Others get foam pads. I'm not sure if they buy them or make them. I think you just need to sit on something!

My training is back on track after a couple of good rows. I was reading on the C2 UK site about a 10*1500m with 1 min rest. I somehow got it into my head to try to do 10*1500 @ 1:46/500. My 1 hour PB is at 1:53.3. Somehow I didn't realize how wrong I was. And yes, I was very wrong.

It ended u...

I had an exciting experience whereby I thought I could let the open wound on the back of my heel heal on its own. After the infection went away, three weeks later, I'd learned that festering wounds shouldn't be ignored. I also learned that the plastic+duct tape, or just duct tape were possible solut...

Sweet Pirate! Wow, those are some great splits. That's going to help me have a good row today. On the day of a pb like that, how do you prepare mentally, hydrolicaly? What was your previous pb, and when? Whew, fast.

So I claimed to have been doing the wolverine 208, but I realize that I was doing 2k pressure instead of 2k+2. BIG difference. I won't be doing a real 208 for some time. That's like 20 spm and 250w I think. Right.

The last two days I've had some crappy erging: tired, rushed, thirsty. Good exc...

Hey that's a big jump sockman. What kind of stroke rate were you using for that, and why do you think you've made such an improvement? You don't do the pb strapless do you?

I have yet to print it out, but I have been trying some 208s, or at least I thought I was. What I did was do the 20-22-20-22-20 at 2' 2' 2' 2' 2'. The SPI should have been at 2k + 2, but I really did 2, at 10.5. For 60 minutes, that was a good one. Range has talked a bit about the plan and says that...

I don't think that anyone here really disagrees. What James is saying is that what he lacks is endurance, not strength. What Dickie is saying is that all of his bench pressing didn't help him compared to those little guys who spent lots of time pulling. What dadams is saying is that olympic athletes ...

FIrst 5k test piece: 17:40.4, 1:46.00/500m, drag 121, w unknown, stroke at 27-28spm. Pretty solid, though I had so much at the end, ie last 500m, that I could have brought it up a bit throughout. Feeling good about it.

24M, HWT

Ranger, I have been adopting much of your advice in the last couple of weeks. I am now rowing strapless at 20-22spm and watching my watts and thus my SPI. I was wondering to what extent you watch your HR doing, for example, Wolverine Plan 208s. I just started them. After an hour of 10.5 SPI, I'm pre...

Today I did 2x30 minutes, with 2 min waterbreak and music change, and sweat cleaning. I did the 208 from the Wolverine plan 20-22-20-22-20, two minutes each. So I did six of those. I have been aiming for a SPI of 10.5, perhaps a little on the high side, but we'll see. So at 20spm I hit 210w, 230w at...

Just to add in my own anecdotal observation. I'm now starting to row for the second time. The first time was after a lot of weight lifting in prerationfor a rugby comeback, the second is kind of getting back into consistant training. The first time I observed my legs getting bigger, even though I wa...

Hi George, thanks! Well, I've been rowing at 120-122, but raner posted somewhere that an hour effort should be at 26 spm and drag 105. I had been training with the 120, but sat down with 108. I see you use a 135 (?). It didn't seem to be a problem for me, though perhaps next time I will use the 120 ...

First time going for a pb in a long time (yesterday). I just started rowing again about 3 weeks ago and have been fearful of opening it up, both because of the pain and because I didn't want a crappy result! I was astounded to pull 1:53.0 for 60 minutes, 15936m, 243w, 25spm (was shooting for 26, 9.5...
