Your method isn't really a fair comparison between all age groups. It ignores the fact that by far the most contested age range is 20-40. There's a much higher standard in these categories. Merely by rowing in a not very hotly contested category, you can obtain great looking scores. Mind you, this i...

You should only be using high spm for very short pieces. Even when you get very good, you'll still want to use low spms for longer pieces; you'll just pull faster splits!

How much rest is optimal between weights sessions? Is a day off between exercising the same body part sufficient, or is it better to leave longer than that? Also, how soon do gains start to decay? Thanks

General

When one of our crew did risotta for a crew meal, he did it all in one wok (well, two due to the quantity needed, but both had the same stuff in). Fry all the vegetables (onions, mushrooms, peppers), add chicken. Keep frying. Fill up the wok with boiling water and lots of nice. Wait until the water ...

I'm about the same. The massive lactate shock comes after 200-300m.

Roy: ah, I see you're using a *very* odd definition of "comfortable", then! You're "comfortable" when you're not contemplating quitting! <br><br>Good luck for next time; your current training is completely putting mine to shame and I have no problems breaking 6.40 (at least I hope I wouldn't!).

Try mixing it up a bit. Do some longer sessions, or maybe some power ergs (15 seconds on, 15 seconds light, with the 15 seconds on at increasing ratings, eg. 26,28,30,32, 26,...). When you're rowing at low ratings, strapless is better.

Good luck! That's a truly scary time! Looks like qualification's in the bag for you, but you may as well do it in style with a world record! Inspiring stuff.

Don't you only need to break 5.55? (obviously, I'm going by your obscenely high standard when I say "only"!)

Roy: there is no way you should be able to row the first 1850m of your 2km comfortably. Even with a very odd definition of "comfortable", you should be decidedly uncomfortable well before this point.

Roy, with leg power like that, you should be able to motor along at a ridiculous pace at low ratings! Low rating stuff should help your technique, and make sure you're opening your back out quick enough. I can only leg press 250kg or so, so you shouldn't have any difficulty beating my low rating spl...

I checked out ultimate-exercise.com, and found this stunning claim:<br><br>"You will not find any aerobics equipment. It would be easiest if we simply "gave clients what they wanted", but aerobics is not done at Ultimate Exercise because it is an activity that consumes precious recovery resources fo...
