Re: What OTW Training have you done today
Hence why people scull/pair. Yarra's OK at the moment, haven't seen your unlighted moron in 1x, but he's been more than made up for by the college crews. Wrong way/wrongs side/no lights/no calls/no brains. Generally 4-6 sessions a week in the 2- at the moment, nothing more than 16k in a session. 2* ...

Re: dynamic and sliders drag
The general advice seems to be to lower the DF by 10-15 from static to sliders (having not used dynamic for more than the minute which took me to decree it a hateful machine). I'm actually not too sure about this, I'd go the other way. I think historically, the DF has been too high on the statics (I...

Re: What's Considered good?
It's OK, John. Keep wittering on happily. You might think you would be good at rowing, but have you ever tried it, or bothered to experiment with your ideas on water? There's a little more to it than whipping up and down the slide. It's not that difficult, but... But back to erging, since that's wha...

Re: What's Considered good?
John, please stick to something that you know about. On water rowing is clearly not that thing. Low rating work does not restrict you from rating high. A mate of mine had the WR in the quad until a few weeks ago. In his single, he did a vast amount of work rating 14 to 16. It didn't stop him rating ...

Re: What's Considered good?
Many of newbies have the problem of trying to rush the recovery, making it as fast or faster than the drive. That might be fine in a sprint or even a 2k time trial, but it is not good general training. I have a video of Esklid Ebbesen rushing his recoveries, in the exact way you advise not to do. S...

Re: Ranger's training thread
You're right. You do have a massive amount to work on. The fact that you can't identify no slide control, and belting the catch, as issues indicates that! You've got no connection with your legs, and are getting all of your connection through your shoulders and back. That's part of the reason you're...

Re: Ranger's training thread
Ranger has made it his mission to rewrite the records on erging and human physiology What I have done over the last eight years with my training has nothing to do with physiology. It has to do with technique. I have learned to row well (13 SPI) at low drag (120 df.). No veteran erger has ever rowed...

Re: New to rowing
Hello all, I picked up a used Model D rower the other day after keeping my eye out for one for a while. Got the Concept2 Utility installed and figured out the data card, etc. Took it for a 30min test drive this morning. Didnt know how to set it up properly for a 30min fixed workout, but I did 6,649...

Re: Ranger's training thread
Help! I'm new to this forum and Indoor Rowing. I've been reading through the Ranger Training Thread Forum and came across the below... related to a post I submitted (Titled: Beginners? 500m Split, Damper & Leg Force Relationship). Have I done something stupid or asked a question I shouldn't have? T...

Re: Ranger's training thread
Where is your proof that EE tapes down his erg? I watched him do it. Unlike you, I have also won races at international regattas that EE rowed in, too. I was there. I saw him race. I have been to BIRC and WIRC three times each, EIRC twice. That's eight. ranger Rich, you've never rowed at a regatta....

Re: Ranger's training thread
How's the lying going, Rich? I'm quite looking forward to Roy handing you your arse if you two race. As he'll be going very quickly, I guess quite soon, it's a big "if". We know you're not likely to turn up at any race, indoor or outdoor, anyway, but if someone you clearly envy so much is going to s...

Re: Ranger's training thread
just learning to row Sheesh! And, yet, you entered the ballot for the HotC  Last year, 20 boats in the Veterans race at HOCR pulled 2:20 pace or slower. ranger There are several differences between you and them, including: They finished HOCR; they have finished OTHER races; and they have fin...

Re: Ranger's training thread
Ranger would never be able to row sweep in an eight because he'd never find 7 lightweight senile old men that are washed up ex-world champions on obscure gym equipment........... and are prepared to boat on the water at the crack of dawn..... after already spending an hour warming up(excluding brea...
