disassembling model D rower

Hi, I need to take my C2 model D apart for allergy reasons - I need to get it apart enough so that I can rinse any part that's accessible to air. I'm not sure how to do this. I took part of the casing of the fan off, and saw a bolt holding the fan on. Is it ok to undo this bolt? How about squirting ...

[So... You did not have any pain in your knees, but stopped running b/c of bone spurs and arthritis, and now you are prepared to stop rowing because of arthritis that still doesn't hurt? I am 29 years old and I have arthritis in my left knee and hip, apparently because of a long-undiagnosed leg len...

I'm still sick ... I've been sick since middle of December with the similar stuff. I got sick in the middle of December, no other symptoms than feeling VERY muzzy. since then I've only felt well about a couple of days at a time. I saw the doctor about it, he thought I probably have a mild deep sinus...

I can't eat fish anything. I use an EPA-DHA supplement that's made from algae, from water4.net. It's the only supplement from algae that has EPA as well as DHA.
Omega-3's are apparently quite helpful with osteoarthritis.

There were a lot of people in the "knee arthritis" topic earlier who'd been told by their doctors not to row. That's why I thought of asking the doctor, I wanted to check on whether that might be true for me. My knee is somewhat bent from the arthritis, I think it might be bent inwards. I don't bend...

I found that this exremely restrictive diet was recommended for rheumatiod arthritis, not the degenerative arthritis that most of us develop in old age. I ran this by my daughter, who had been a family practice physician, and she pointed out that rheumatoid arthritis is a disease of the immune syst...

I fell and landed on the kneecap. That happened to me about a year ago. I was out of it because of mold allergies. I needed to go up into my attic. But I was all spaced out and I set the ladder up the wrong way around, so it wasn't resting on pads, only on plastic corners. So I got up on the ladder...

I finally heard from the orthopedic surgeon. One of my knees got torn ligaments in a skiing accident many years ago and I had to have it surgically messed with. They also took out a piece of torn meniscus. So now i have arthritis in my knee. I thought he would say the rowing machine was fine. (from ...

I just got done renting a car and I tried two Model D's. Both were making chain noise - noise coming from inside the chain housing. One of the Model D's was in a store. It was very quiet, I was the only person there. The chain noise was quite loud. That was a brand new Model D, the salesman took off...

Bringing the erg with you and setting it up in the basement and then rowing for an hour or two each day you are there would probably help a lot and let you eat more what they are offering. That's a nice idea. I'm not overweight and I think a lot of the ideas people have about "how to stop overeatin...

As for the recent conversations concerning low-fat vs vegan diets, the Atkins diet seems to be working for me. I'm still not hungry during the day, meals that I prepare or purchase that I would ordinarily eat the entire serving I find that I am satisfied or even feel full halfway through and I don'...

Ah.... put in roughly 3 hrs per day of vigorous aerobic activity and the pounds just fall off. Why didn't I think of that? Overweight people often say exercise doesn't work and complain about how hard it is to lose weight - and say things like "I ride a bike a lot in a hilly place and it doesn't ca...

the older you get, the more rest days you need :( As people get older they have more free radicals in their bodies after exercising. But antioxidants like vitamin C and E help with this. I read about a study, I don't remember the details, where vitamin E helped people recover after exercise. They u...

Be sure you are keeping your back straight, and rotating from your hips. I definitely tend to slouch. Yes, I read surfing around that if you don't keep your back straight it can mean you pull some with those weak/fragile muscles between the ribs and that hurts them. Ouch! I was also pushing heavy w...

tenderness in my chest

I suddenly got pain on one side of my chest just under my breast after doing a 2K a couple of days ago. Today I noticed that working on an abdominal strength training machine hurt whatever muscle is involved. Also crunches hurt. Rowing didn't hurt while I was doing it, it actually seemed soothing. B...
