Re: Ranger's training thread

Hi Rich Not posted for a couple of years, wanted to see if finally you were going to get anywhere near your goals... Saw you row on Sunday and sadly it appears you are still nowhere near! In fact still rowing with breaks as you were at least two years ago and indeed the same as you were when you got...

you're credentials and results certainly don't match the results my coach has produced Hard to say what supports that. Coaching myself, I broke the WR in my age and weight division three times, on three consecutive rows, to a total of four seconds. So, pretty much, no one has ever gotten any better...

UK Evesham Golden Mile

Anybody venturing over for this this year?
The last two years have seen Mark Pukita and JVB come over for what is a fantastic weekend, anyone else?

my 30r20 PB is 1:58.8 which predicts 7:02, my 'actual' 2k PB is 7:12.7 Then I would guess that your training is not balanced. You need to do more hard UT1 and AT rows. Do you do a lot of hard 5Ks and 60' rows, etc.? One or two a week? ranger Loads of them Ranger, and without breaks, especially duri...

Even a relatively widely accepted one like 30'r20 to predict 2k performance is going to be a poor predictor if the person doing it never rows at r20! No. 30'r20 predicts a 2K pretty exactly, no matter how you train. ranger No it doesn't, my 30r20 PB is 1:58.8 which predicts 7:02, my 'actual' 2k PB ...

I agree Mike, I don't think there can be any accurate formula for individual predictions for performance over the range of distances. Some athletes are better over longer distances and some over shorter. Too many physiological and mental factors to be taken into account for any kind of fixed predict...

No, MM.

You don't like yourself.

Different affair.

ranger
Not at all, I like myself just fine :D

I know loads of people that like me just fine.
I don't know anyone who likes you, except yourself.

And why aren't you thrown off the forum for not attributing quotes?

Is this another "[f]law" of rowing?

Hardly.

Much deeper issues are involved.

For rowing, you need the least cushioning possible, you don't want anything absorbing energy that you're trying to apply to the stretcher.

A few people I know, including Anna Bailey, row in football boots with the studs taken out.

Re: U.K. Forum

So over to you to finish the job :) He is one of yours after all, you can deliver the final coup de grâce  MM, Sorry, I'm staying out of it, thank you. I got into it recently only because one of his major detractors started tarring me with the same brush just because I had used a training pro...

Re: U.K. Forum

Oh sh*t Dougie. Look what you have done! Bob S.  About time you had him back, you'll notice the mental state has deteriorated somewhat with trying to convince us all in the UK that he's "so much better now" without actually showing anything to substantiate that claim. So over to you to f...

Just sent the following email to C2.com "Hello I’m writing to enquire as to why the C2 UK site is so often down these days? I use the site daily as a resource for race information, forum activity, and of course for spares and equipment purchases. It is getting increasingly frustrating not being able...

Perhaps we should all start sending emails to C2.com saying that we wanted to order a rower from the UK site but it was down so we bought a water rower instead.
I reckon they'd soon get it fixed! :)
