Fixing up old PM2/PM3

Hi all, I am working on repairing a few PM2s and PM3s. Of the seven I have, two simply needed a thorough cleaning on the circuit board with alcohol wipes and new batteries. That was easy. Four of those seven (three PM3s and one PM2) will turn on, but when plugged into an erg with a working tachomete...

Re: What OTW Training have you done today

Anecdotally, I've always had coaches tell me that it's easier to set the boat in a headwind. Why, I'm not sure. But the recommendations of a late square-up and a little more layback have seemed to work. The first obviously because the wind has less time to play with your blade. The second, I have no...

Re: Weight lifting for muscle gain

As stated, you are still developing and will put on more muscle mass as you approach your 20s. But that does not mean that you can't get stronger. Most of the development you'll see from lifting is neural - meaning the nerves that activate your muscles will work faster or activate more muscle fibers...

Re: workouts to drop 2k???

Resistance exercise can be started at nearly any age - I'd definitely consider consulting your coach or a certified personal trainer at your gym for help with form on the multi-joint exercise. Starting with familiarization exercises for squats, deadlifts, cleans, bent over rows, high pulls and overh...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

2/28/11-3/5/11 Busy week, four exams and a lab practical, so I got in a lift on Thursday and a little erging Thursday night. Nothing for the books. Left for San Diego on Saturday the 5th at 3AM. 3/6/11 AM: 12k OTW Mostly by fours and sixes working on blade work. Did some drills for outside/inside ha...

Re: Am I wasting my time?

For just starting off, you've made great progress. 150k in less than a month is a great training volume for a newbie. As many people have said, interval training is not the end all to weight loss. In fact you'll burn much more fat doing long steady distance. But either way, just increasing your acti...

If you go to "memory" you'll only see the rate. But if you remain on the display at the end of the piece it should show total kCal burned.

Rich, How nice of you not to grace Agganis Arena with your presence. It was a lovely day overall. Now how about some poetry that I feel you could learn from: "If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But m...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

CRASH-B's. And after just completing my first full week of training in a month this was going to be iffy... Goal was 1:47, which is sad considering how I was ready to go in the 6:40s right after winter break. It went well, all things considered and I have a great base to work from now. 3k warmup 200...

Re: Why am I so slow at a low DF?

Unfortunately I don't see too many training-related posts, in the WTHYDT thread but from what I have read you need to simply spend more time on the erg. Your most recent 5k was done after being sick and not having trained much - which makes me think that just getting meters in and using proper techn...
