Way to go, Robin! By the way, I tried your baby sock technique over the rowbars and it worked great... the blisters I have were cushioned enough that the rowing wasn't painful. I did my 30-minute row today and have to say that for whatever reason, I've been fading out at the end... the row was a str...

No, that doesn't confuse things at all. It really does help. Thank you. Maybe because my legs are stronger than my upper body, I don't FEEL quite the same amount of effort coming from my legs.... but they are in fact still working hard. Rowers sure are a helpful bunch!

Well, that brings to me to another question.... I try to push off with my legs but feel sometimes my arms are working harder than my legs. Is my technique wrong?

Thanks for bringing that to the light for me.

donna.

Hello, everyone!

My name is Donna. I am 40 years old and new to rowing and to the Ducks in a Row team. After battling kidney stones for years and eventually having surgery, I had never felt so old. I decided once I recover from this surgery I am going to do something about my lack of fitn...

Thanks for the socks idea! Necessity is the mother of invention as Ben Franklin would say. I'm going to give it a try for tomorrow's 30 minute row. I ran this morning and it felt great! I really believe that rowing is giving me additional endurance and speed for running. What a great combo. I am gla...

Wow... Thanks for the helpful info, Dave and Jen. Rowing truly does for the upper body what running does for the lower body. I'm finding out exactly how little strength I have every time I get on the rower. But I won't give up!

[quote=Zac,Sep 10 2005, 06:25 PM]
I have been rowing for about 3 months and have made some decent progress. I find some of the advice on these boards to be a little too confusing and complicated. I've never rowed on the water and have never gotten into any kind of cardio on a continuous basis. ...

I started rowing in August and have found it a great overall workout. I joined Ducks in a Row and have been challenged to log in my times online and monitor my progress. My goal is to get onto the first page of rankings....HA! It's crazy hard. I thought I was a generally fit person and that after a ...
