Thanks for the clarification on both issues. Being that I can complete the 12k at 1:59 , would you recommend keeping that pace (though it is below the 2:04) and adding distance? I'd stick with 1:59 and add 500m each week. Just remember that the L3 workouts aren't supposed too tough, and only you ca...

Your reference pace of 1:45 would give you a 2:04 L3 pace at 85%. (1:45 = 105 seconds...105 seconds / .85 = 123.5 seconds = 2:04). He kept the calculations based on pace in seconds, not watts. Also, Mike only put the 2x6k out for people that couldn't complete a 12k. Thanks for the clarification on ...

Quick question: In looking at the L3 pacing formulas for the following workouts: 12k continuous 2x6k' r7-8 15 x 3' r1 Mike advises a speed of approximately 85-90% of the 2k split you are working off of. Given my current 8x500m and 4x1k, my 2k split looks like its right around 1:45. 1:45/500m convert...

I may be misunderstanding your post, but if you had been doing water only for quite a time and jumped back onto the Erg expecting to be where you were when you left it, that is a bit of a problem. The Erg and Oar are quite different and you need a little practice to get back in the groove. Get in s...

Racing a 2-
Hi-- Recently started racing a 2- (2000m) and have a question: In a pair with a notable power difference, the "weaker" rower is in bow, which I was told is the initial step to try to even out power differences. The boat in this case still turns to the starboard side. Our pairs have steering hooked u...

Elamonta, This thread kinda got off track, but I'm in your same position. Currently a junior in college, lightweight, trying to get under 6:40 this season. My best 2k is 6:59.2. That was in the middle of last spring. I think that if I pulled one now it would be lower but I don't think I could accura...
