Hi Rowmum: Welcome to DIAR. I am also a newbie, injured from overuse for now, so am staying on the slow and easy road. I envy you your time to do the 10k, my goal, set aside for the time being. Don't worry about English, some of us native speakers aren't all that great ourselves! I work full-time, p...

Hi all, have taken the advice re stretching acc. to the manual, and actually took a 2.5 week break from erging. Also started NSAIDS and refraining from going at it too hard. Gloves seem to help, as well as pre- and post-erg light weight training for forearm/elbow strengthening. Am slowly improving, ...

pgpoon@theglobal.net

I am a Ducks in a Row member. I have been feeling consistent post workout pain in L elbow, esp. after 5Ks. Thought it was from gripping too hard (I am new to this and concentrate hard while rowing) so began rowing with my thum...

Hi all: I am a newbie Ducks in a Row member. After my first 5000s, I started feeling post-workout pain in lateral aspect of L elbow. The pain comes with using a pinch grip on anything and sometimes just aches. I have started rowing with four fingers only, helps some. I don't reallyl feel pain while ...

Hi all: I am trying to get back in the saddle after a busy Jan and Feb. Where did that time go?

I missed the info on warming down unstrapped. Why does that matter?

Also, I really like intervals -- just can't do straight 5K, too boring. I always do the 2-2-1 repetitively, 2 slow...

Hi all: I am a newbie, but like to do 30 mins segments and have some blisters/callouses. I am experimenting with something called Bodyglide, made in Bellevue, WA. The ingredients are Caprylic/Capric Trigglycerides, Aloe and Tocopheryl Acetate. No petroleum so the handle cover should not degrade.<br ...

Hello DIAR: Great idea Bufflehead. I am a 47 y.o. LW, 5'6", 130, just started erging T'giving 2004. We got our C2 two years ago for my husband who rowed LW 8s in college, 40 years ago. I tried it right away but hurt my lower back using bad technique and got scared off of it. I started again gingerly...

Hi DIAR: thanks so much for the support and encouragement. Quick question: how high should I set the drag (is that what it's called)? I have been at 4.5 since the start, lowered it to 3.0 today and feel better after today's 5,000 m than I have in the past. The book said anywhere between 3 and 5 is f...

Dear DIAR: I am SO impressed with the mileage/meterage you are posting. I am a solo attorney in a small town in Montana with a 13 year old soccer player, a 19 year old college student (in Rhode Island) and a husband who travels internationally for work. It is a challenge for me to do 5,000 m in a da...

Hi all: I re-began erging after Thanksgiving. Had previously hurt my back rowing it and was off of it for more than a year. I was a newbie then and still am. I am a 47 yo LW (think relatively small built and weak). My husband was on an Ivy League crew team in college, 40 years ago and he has encoura...
