Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Did a 2 hour session, 28,343m, 2:07.0 average pace today. Ergzone crashed or whatever and didn't record the session. As it was a blind row and the phone was facing with its back to me, I didn't realize. Not important to have split data, so I don't bother. An impressive distance to do in one session...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
A great set to sessions I find it's fatigue on the long sessions where I have to pay particular attention to back posture - sitting up tall and maintaining as much anterior pelvic tilt as I can.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Wow, that's serious milage for a single week  Only very few weeks I get over 100, typically more in the 70-80 range  :D It's an exceptional weekly distance for me, I've been making a deliberate push. I've got a race on the 1st of Feb which I want to do a mini-taper for, so I'm front-loa...

Re: Any Advice Greatly Appreciated... thanks in advance
Constantly concentrate on form during the long low intensity rows. Don't slouch, sit-up tall and don't over-reach are often useful coaching cues, but it depends. Back soreness can be a warning that something isn't quite right. You may well be better off with a lower DF, but it depends on how muscula...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
This week I've been mostly working on UT2 with daily HMs and 10km twice, which has meant a week of early starts to make time. Squats and dumbbell bench press this morning too, which I should do more regularly. Date Meters Time Pace S/M HR 06/01/25 21,097m 1:28:36.3 2:05.9 20 136 07/01/25 21,097m 1:2...

Re: Gloves for grip?
The above suggestion of washing the grips has made a massive difference for me - I rub undiluted washing-up liquid ('dish soap' in the US I think) onto the handles and rinse well. When I learnt to row at school we had wooden handles (even on the CF blades) and grip was never an issue (too much grip ...

Re: First 2k Row Kicked My Butt
First 2k Row Kicked My Butt I disagree, you kicked its butt! Good work. A suggestion I have is about pacing. For most people it's usually most efficient (and therefore ultimately fastest) to pace the 2000m as consistently as you can - which is difficult because you don't actually know what your fas...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Hi all. As mentioned I will be competing in the Hamburg ergo marathon in March. I thought I’d use the opportunity to raise some money for British Heart Foundation. Please see link below and thanks in advance for any donations. https://www.justgiving.com/page/anthony-hooton-1736157719456?utm_medium=...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Recently fallen off the wagon a bit, struggling to be consistent with the long rows, so relieved to get a couple of metronomic HMs done. Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
8549m in single scull OTW this morning, including x2 1km TTs - my second trial was in a time of 4:09 including catching a crab, and my first wasn't timed, I think because I came out of my lane (in my defence most of the buoys are underwater at the moment, although it is a straight course!). Then 7,4...

16 spm was uncomfortable, to say the least, even if the pace wasn't particularly fast.

Re: Thoughts on BRIC 2024
I thought it was very well organised, and being a part of fitfest was good. It was annoying that so many people were standing at the front which blocked the view of the first row of ergs and there could have been more seats in the stand. The commentary was good. I wasn't personally affected by the l...

Re: 2k Race Training
I went for something along the lines of: 60-90 minutes of low intensity steady state 5 or 6 times a week, 30-45 minutes high intensity steady state 1-2 times a week, and intervals 8x500m/2:00r once every 7-10 days, using the intervals to monitor any progress. Though my training is very much secondar...
