Training

I got a pair of Nike Frees last summer and loved them. They are supposed to simulate running in bare feet and they worked well. Unfortunately, they didn't last very long.

Michael -

I found the program at http://www.galleys.org/rowing/ -- many belated thanks to GalleySlave for writing this.

Dave G

Unfortunately not. I may have gotten it from the UK site, as it is a 'programme' generator. Please post it if you can find it.

General

Vito -

I have a Model D at home and use a Model C where we vacation. The Model D handle is much better in my opinion -- it's hard for me to keep my forearms relaxed with the C. The D is also easy to break apart for storage without a heart monitor receiver, if that's important for you.<br ...

Michael -

I have been using RowPro since last summer, and used their training programs for about 6 months. It is simple to use and easy to follow. In early fall, I started using the Wolverine Plan. My results, in terms of improved times, has been considerably better. You can find a thread...

Training

I recommend getting Xeno's technique DVD (to see what to do), a mirror (to see if you're doing it right), RowPro (to keep track of everything and some fun), and look into either the Wolverine Plan or Pete's Plan (for a disciplined improvement plan). These kick-started big improvements in my PBs.<br ...

Training

Dropped my PB on 10k from 40:26.9 (Nov. 05) to 39:54.4. I hadn't tried a 10k in about 2 months -- doing almost all Wolverine workouts.

The new camera work in RowPro v2 is great. I had a pace boat with my goal of 40:00. The 500m splits made it easy to keep ahead of pace.

Dave G

Teddi and Michele -

Why don't you affiliate with Arizona Outlaws for your meters? We've got over 60 on the team, and are getting close to catching MIT for 11th place. If we had Dwayne's meters, we could really be a contender!

Good luck and have fun.

Dave G

P.S. I really like your DVDs, they have been very helpful!
[/quote]

I second Francois. In about 3 weeks with the DVD, I got 3 PBs, dropping my 2k time about 21 sec., my 6k time about 13sec., and added about 150m for my 60'. Great stuff.

Dave G

Mark -

I know you use RowPro. Did you set the L4 workouts up in it, or did you use the program generator that is somewhere on the forum? The program generator must default to creating 40' workouts.

I'm going to alternate shorter (40') and longer L4 and see how that goes. I did ...

New PB Saturday for 60'
14,676 (prev. 14,501)

I tried for 2:02.0 pace @ 23spm -- held the rate but paced at 2:02.6. Probably would have done better with 24 or 25 and not pulling as hard. My calves certainly would have felt better. I'm blaming that on walking 18 holes earlier in the d...

I'm not an expert, but you should be able to get about 5-7 sec lower on your 2k split than your 5k PB (if you're healthy). Take it out around a 1:57-1:58 for as long as you can and bring it home with whatever is left in the tank.

Good luck.

DaveG
