It's a model C.
I'll update the firmware. I had a problem with the .exe file not launching, but I'll work through that, and put a new battery in. I think the monitor wire should be good, but haven't thoroughly looked at it. I believe it was new when I upgraded to the PM3 about 8 years ago.

PM3 rate display hiccup
Every minute or so, I'll get a displayed rate that's about 15 seconds faster than the rate I'm pulling. This one-off rate also passes through to RowPro.
I think my options are to: upgrade firmware, replace battery, and/or replace monitor wire.
Any other suggestions?

Bill- Nice going on the pyramid! You paced it pretty well. I reckon you could do the next L1 (4x1k) a bit faster than 1:56. I recon the same thing, but I'm going to give myself the buffer for the first time with that lovely stroll in the park. I find the mental games we play before these inf...

I added lifting to my workouts and am a bit sore today. I hate the first week of getting back into lifting, but it's a fantastic feeling once the body gets used to it. I did my first L1 Pyramid this year, and I forgot how much fun it was. Of course, my brain was questioning whether I was going to hi...

OK, I confess I also like the L4 workouts. And although I haven't worked my way up to them this year, even a 2x40' or a 70' is a great workout that's not too painful. A note on my earlier observations that I was overstroking the 176 segments. I actually counted the strokes and hit 174 & 176 last nig...

Thanks for the clarification on both issues. Being that I can complete the 12k at 1:59 , would you recommend keeping that pace (though it is below the 2:04) and adding distance? I'd stick with 1:59 and add 500m each week. Just remember that the L3 workouts aren't supposed too tough, and only you ca...

Quick question: In looking at the L3 pacing formulas for the following workouts: 12k continuous 2x6k' r7-8 15 x 3' r1 Mike advises a speed of approximately 85-90% of the 2k split you are working off of. Given my current 8x500m and 4x1k, my 2k split looks like its right around 1:45. 1:45/500m conver...

I did a 60' L4 this evening that I enjoyed. You enjoyed an L4 workout? I enjoy finishing them more than doing them. It's a good challenge to stay focused with all of the shifts and hit the targets. OK, so I guess I enjoy the challenge of these workouts too... I'm interested in hearing feedback from...

I'm having a bit more luck with the goal paces on the intervals now. My 5 x 1,500 goal pace was 2:03, which is 10 seconds slower than the last time I did it in September 2005. I went 2:02.7/2:02.8/2:02.3/2:02.6/1:59.3 for an 2:02.0 average. I probably could have gone faster and held it together, but...

I began with a 40' L4 last night (172/176/172/176). ... My actual strokes were 170/180/170/180. Bill, how do you know how many strokes you actually took in each segment? Did you mentally count them? Cheers Dave No, I have an assistant count them for me! I use the RowPro Session Report, whic...

Bob - there is a limit to who would know that 1986 flick. I turned 21 that year and only saw it once (while I was completely hammered) and yet that Bueller?...Bueller?... line is almost the only thing I remembered. Mike & Patrick - perhaps my ascending interval suggestion comes from my sick & twiste...

Wondering where you have been Bill. I think I remember that race because 1) it was the day I made lwt; 2) it was one of the first online races to go off with 7-8 boats; 3) I got touched out by Joe Greco in the closing meters. You should see what rowing now online with 16 boats is like. I need a big...

Mike, I noticed all of your alternative intervals in your last post were decending in length. I was proposing ascending distances. The decending intervals would allow one to go faster during the session and get a good feel for increasing speed under stress. The ascending intervals would add to the s...

Yesterday's workout was an L3 12.5k @ 2:10. I had only about 4 hours of sleep the night before, so the warmup and the first half of the session were a drag, but every interval was at 2:10.0 or lower and I finished with a 2:09.7 average. The HR was 8 beats higher than my last steady row on 11/29 whic...
