Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
A week later and my back still isn't right, but I knew I needed to do something, although I had my doubts. I lowered the drag, pace and expectations and focused on how my back felt as it progressed. 22:15.7 5,000m 2:13.5 147 805 19 111 4:26.7 1,000m 2:13.3 148 807 19 106 4:27.6 2,000m 2:13.8 146 802...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I did a 2K at the weekend and set a new PB by 4.7s (which was almost 2 years old). I thrive off fairly regular upper UT1 sessions, probably as I don't do enough, or go hard enough in the harder stuff, to worry about under recovery.nick rockliff wrote: ↑September 10th, 2024, 4:37 pmNothing wrong with doing UT1 sessions, people don't do enough IMHO.

Re: rower wanna be
I have a problem with the technique on the rowing machine, and I am learning step by step. What worries me the most is that my back hurts and not my legs at all after training. I read that this is mostly a problem for beginners. By the way, in parallel with exercise, I control my food intake so tha...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
For instance, I did a workout over the weekend where you do 500m with 1 minute rest and go 2:20, 2:10, 2:00, 1:50, 1:40, 1:30 and back up. The 1:30 is surprisingly hard after the 1:40 and then the second 1:40 hurts after the 1:30 - anyway, when doing the 1:30 I started off at 1:27 pace and then was...

Hi All during my longer row the other day due to my fingers hurting due to blisters starting, I had the handle 'longer' in my fingers...later on I started to get pain in my ring finger, it has now started to swell up and I think I may have stretched the ligaments or caused some soft tissue damage a...

Welcome back Erik, and make sure you do what's the best thing for you as that sounds worrying to me.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Did my first Full Marathon today, was aiming for under the 3 hour mark so paced for that. Resting heart rate was a bit higher than normal due to remnants of a cold so tried to keep HR in check. The most difficult bit was eating & drinking without losing to much time :) Got a time of 2:59:32 so pret...

Nicely done Al. My love of 1k / 1r repeats might be something that makes this more bearable for me.winniewinser wrote: ↑September 7th, 2024, 4:58 amTeam Oarsome Challenge for September is 1-5min/1min rest....quite a tasty session if you go after it and the rests seem pointless after the 3/4 mins. Happy to break 1:50 on this.

Re: Steady state pacing
I find if I do my SS (15mx4 w/1r) at 160w (50%) I feel fine after - and the next day. Bumping up to 176w (55%) I end up quite tired and feel sluggish after. Also, my HR seems to jump over 150bpm at 176w - near the end of the piece. Obviously with improvement and fitness the wattage will increase, b...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
A long block of circa 100km weeks would work wonders for me, as it would most if they can tolerate the volume. But now is not the time to do it... That did seem to work for me, but I was also in lockdown and off work, so who knows what hidden benefits that gave me. I seem to think that your age has...

A definite sign you're still not quite right. Coughing up blood also was a definite sign you weren't right toonick rockliff wrote: ↑September 6th, 2024, 11:44 amWhen I normally connect my HRM to the PM5 it's usually around 52/53, since holidays and then covid it's on 62/63.
