I have a pair off Pavels books and he is very competent ass well, when I think getting stronger and building volume I think fewer reps like 6 - 8 heavy, last rep should be very hard to complete. if you can do 10 to 12 to light. More weight You can not train everyday you are getting stronger only day...

I would say to drink whenever you feel you have the neede, and to drink Water I love my selve to emty a botle of cold Water
After a workout but not before.

Anyone telling you to drink this or that before or after are just trying to sell you something, you dont need.
