Re: Hysterectomy and Rowing

Thanks. I think I knew your excellent advice before I asked my question, but thought I`d throw it out there anyway. I am a fitness trainer and instructor in my work, sdo was very fit prior to my surgery, (but unfortunately tend to eat accordingly :( ) So getting back to exercise is very important to...

Re: Hysterectomy and Rowing

Anyone out there still looking at this post? I was a committed rower prior to my abdominal hysterectomy on sept 6th of this year (hit 10 million metres in the spring) and wondering how soon I can safely get back to it. I have a rower at home, but thinking for now, I should just suck it up and go to ...

Sorry to hear March hasn't been good to you, Margaret and Arlene - and I hope you've recovered from your fall. And fish - sorry, don't know your real name! - are you still in there? I need 2 more rows, and have three days to do it - I'm definitely down to just rowing 5km! I've packed on so many km s...

How's everyone doing? We're more than half-way through, but I've already used up 3 of the alloted 6 days off - don't know if I'll make it to the end with 25 rows under my belt. The trouble with this one, of course, is that there no chance to catch up by doing a long row - miss a day and you just can...

Lofty goal, Margaret - but I guess after 100k/week, this will seem a lot easier! I normally do my wieghts at the end of my rowing but it may make it a little more interesting to intersperse. Have you tried squat jumps? Best thing I know for building power in quads, glutes and hamstrings. A Crew R - ...

Thanks Kirk, for remembering that I planned to race 2 k on my birthday (I was out of town yesterday so did it today instead) and Cynthia, for the inspiration and encouragement. I may have wimped out without the on-line encouragement  I managed a respectable PB of 8:12.7 - 6 sec off my previous...

CONGRATULATIONS CYNTHIA!!!! :D Just checked the CIRC site to see what I had to aim for for my 2 k attempt and saw your amazing time! Are you on the way to Boston? Did anyone else from the Eh team go to Toronto this year? I'm a little upset at the lack of lightweight women - I KNOW I can't compete w...

Way to go, Margaret! I'm ..... well, speechless, actually. There are no words in my vocabulary to express my amazement and admiration at your achievement! And as for the Eh team in the challenge - yeah team, even if I didn't JVC with you! It all makes C2s February challenge look a little tame, hmmm?...

Southern Gal, try not to slide so far forward that your heel come right off - try rowing a few km without letting the heels coming up at all, and feel the dirve coming from the heeels and the thighs. Then slowly relaxe until you have a natural motion - you'll find your heels will still come up, but ...

Still lurking, and taking advice (and yes, I know it's a women's forum, and not just ducks, but thanks, Schenley! No one else in my family wants to play either, Shannon, husbadn rows, but won't post his metres and they all think I'm nuts!) Grams, I just did your 8k @ 10 mps - nice workout! I confess...

I'm also rowing two teams with no problems - maybe Team Canada (cheeky buggers) found a way to make it so that only THEY can have the doubles! I rowed the CTC today - nothing like Cynthia's time of course - holy cow, Cynthia! I decided to try for a regular PB (meaning an outrageous high stroke rate!...

Argh - did my defection - or public announcement therof - kill this thread? Sorry folks - but I really hated to just slink away. Or am I too full of myself for words, and the only thing that matters right now is the JVC, and not introductions?
