Re: WTB liverowing connect cable for PM3/4 (USA)

You need a USB-B (typically fits a printer) to a micro-usb for Kindle 7. The higher models (8, 10) now have a usb-c so that is a different cable. Kindle 7 is the one which has been reported to be compatible. I am also waiting for the next special ($39 or $29) from Amazon. In the meantime I have a ol...

Re: Model A PM3

Yes. I recently did the retrofit of PM3 to Model A. You order the same PM5 retrofit kit for Model A sans the PM5 (cost runs to around 70 bucks + shipping & taxes). It includes a special bracket for PM3 that replaces the plastic surface on which the speedometer rests. The external dimensions of PM3 a...

Re: Significant chain sag and no handle return

Out of curiosity, what causes the clutch/freewheel mechanism to lock up in the first place? Is it age? storage in extreme conditions? anything else?

Re: Build up of black stuff on rollers

Yes. I have always used mineral oil and it does wonders to the smoothness and easy removal of the black residue.

Re: Significant chain sag and no handle return

What is the serial number of the Model A you acquired? If it is the later version or if the previous owner has replaced it with an new one, the skewer return mechanism will be similar to the Model B. Since it is a brand new shock cord, the only two reasons could be incorrect installation (not enough...

Re: Yet Another Model B Project

There is a PM5 retrofit for all models (A/B/C/D). Since you have a Model B you should get one for Model B.

The speed ring is same as damper. It allows you to control the airflow into the flywheel. Based on your description, it looks like you already have one.

Re: PM5 completely non-responsive

Concept2 also stocks a 14 feet long cable (#1496) for the PM3/PM4/PM5 monitors. Another option is an AC Adapter (#2486) that can be used in lieu of battery power.

Re: Yet Another Model B Project

If you are ordering other parts, I would recommend getting the speed ring. It is inexpensive, made of plastic, very easy to install and looks part of the rower (as opposed to a DIY look). It also has three adjustments that align with the Model C/D/E damper readings (there is a chart on Concept2 web ...

Re: Bumpy Seat, advice please!

I put a few drops of mineral oil on a clean rail and roll the seat to spread it across it. keeps it smooth and much easier to remove the black spots that form afterwards using glass cleaner.

Re: Drag Factor

C2 has the damper comparison chart on their website at https://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/t ... arison.pdf

This is assuming you have the speed ring (either handmade or purchased as a part from C2) installed on the Model B.

Re: Another Model B Refresh!

Did you try the other sprocket and see what the angle is like? Is it rubbing against anything at the current angle? I would change the bungee if the return mechanism has a slack or if the rower has been stored outdoors previously. Extreme temperature exposure reduces its elasticity. It is very inexp...

Re: Model B refresh

Nice! You did a great job cleaning it up and great close-up photos! It is great news the monitor is operational. maybe the pickup wire/mechanism might be faulty if it does not capture the meters.

I would recommend skipping the maintenance package and just getting what you need a la carte.

Re: Model B refresh

If you are getting the maintenance kit, I would recommend ordering the wind damper ring B kit for ~ $12 (part #372), foot caster left and right kit for $7 (part # 1809). They don't cost a lot and will improve the experience on the rower ownership.

Re: Chain Oiling Hook

You can use a bridge pin in the chain link close to the front axle to "lock" the chain in place. It is available from concept2 as part 76A for $.15. you could get it from one of the big box stores as well to avoid the $8 shipping fee (unless Concept2 waives it)

Re: Wanted monitor for Model A Rower

Thanks to a fellow forum member's generosity, I will be getting a used PM3 monitor early next week. For the benefit of other Model A owners who do not have a monitor installed, I also ordered the PM5 retrofit kit for Model A for the PM3 and all the parts are exactly the same as Concept2 very smartly...
