Re: Rowing Faster - Balanced Training

Okay got both editions in front of me - yes I agree Chapter 6 of 2nd edition has some useful info, but imo chapters 5-9 of the 1st edition are much more useful in terms of going through the training zones, sample sessions, designing a training program. The most useful part of it imo is on page 101 w...

Re: UT1 or AT

Greg - I always thought that UT1 was above the aerobic threshold, i.e. UT1 is between about 2.0mmol and 4.0mmol. So to get the maximum aerobic capacity benefits you mentioned, wouldn't that mean UT2 so maybe more like 18spm for the long rows not 20spm? I always find that if I do a UT2 session shortl...

Re: 2k vs. 20-min split?

Yes there is - it's called 'Paul's law'. If you google it you'll find the full definition and formula (it's a log relationship), but put simply, for every doubling of distance the 500m split increases by 5 seconds. Note that: -this is really just a 'rule of thumb' and unlikely to apply exactly; -it ...

I found that rowing strapless whilst preggers really helped keep my technique in check (and avoided the need to reach my feet :D ) - definitely would advise keeping knees in line. I wasn't huge, but even so was pleasantly surprised that I could keep rowing with minimal change in my stroke. Personall...

Daeuber, I hope you get this message although it's been posted a while after you posted your question and I hope all has gone well with the pregnancy and birth if that has happened already! I gave birth 10 weeks ago to my first baby and was erging (slowly :D ) up until 2 days before that - I started...
