10 MPS seems too slow at lower rates and too fast as higher rates. I'm sure there is something I don't understand about it, but if I do a 60+ minute session at 21 SPM, 10 MPS isn't challenging. If I do AT workouts at 25-26 SPM, I can't quite hold 10 MPS, and w/ race-pace workouts at 30 SPM, 10 MPS i...

John--

Didn't I read on another thread that you do ultra-long cycling?

How frequently are cyclists doing the intervals and how often do they do longer rides? Perhaps I'm straying from the topic, but I'm curious how you fit a single workout such as you describe into the overall ...

Chris--

Two quick observations:

1) I'm not sure I understand how the L4 intervals fit in the plan. Although no expert on the WP, I thought L4 work was typically continuous and designed to build endurance.

2) The stroke rate for the AT work (20-22) looks low to me. Di...

Chris--

My improvement is largely illusory. My training dropped off for a bit, so I was coming back after a notable decline in my times. That said, I'll offer a couple of thoughts about how I approach the erg.

First, my goal is to peak for the CrashBs and row a 2k. My training ...

Chris--

For purposes of comparison.

My 2k (done just over a week ago) is 7.29.

This week I did an "aerobic" 60 min piece at 2.15.7. 21 SPM. Max HR 135.

This year my fastest 60 min piece so far was 2.05.5. Max HR 170+. 23-24 SPM.

Both the trainin...

Chris--

Looking at the stroke rates for the pieces you posted, they seem fine for a workout, but low for a test. Have you done a 60-minute piece at 23-25 SPM? Do you get your rate up to 30 for the 2k?

Tom

Chris--

Whether discussing one's times or the status of one's fly, I'm reminded of what the nurse said to the fellow who made a desperate effort to cover his tackle when she surprised him slipping on his hospital gown: "Such a big deal about such a little thing."

Tom

Chris--

The following may be more than you're interested in, but I offer for it your consideration.

Somewhere (perhaps on the C2 UK site) I saw a testing protocol that recommends several tests, and provides recommendations for how fast you would ideally be relative to your 2k t...

Ben Rea--

To get fast at the 2k, you've first got to go long. The 2k makes enormous demands on your cardiovascular system, so you've got to develop it. That takes years, according to what I have read. Years.

So put in time logging meters. Obviously you can't just paddle along. ...

Ben--

You've got two choices.

(1) You can go to "search" and enter "drag factor" and read what comes up. That should keep you occupied for a while.

(2) You can set the lever on 3 or 4 (drag between 110-120) and just row. That should keep you more usefully occupied fo...

George,

What has been your routine up until now to prepare for a 2k? Does it work for you?

One approach would be to take the first 4 weeks (of 20) to get back on track, and then have a 16-week program designed to get ready to race. You can prepare yourself to race in four mont...

Doug--

Looking at the C2 interactive guide from the UK site, I see that a 1.52/500 pace is the recommended UT2 pace for someone rowing a 6.28 2k. I always thought those paces were impossible, but . . .

Tom

John--

For me, the information on the PM3 regarding my position in the race was sufficient.
