I suspect George is right- his extra weight is likely contributing to this problem, particularly if he has fairly large thighs and belly. Fortunately, regular rowing will be great for weight loss, and I suspect this problem will only improve over time. Keeping his legs apart for the first few months...

didn't get to start until december 8th, because of some foreign travel (no erg, no nothing) so it was pretty much straight 10K plus to finish it. got 200, 137m, and then took the next 4 days off to exercise outdoors again (kayak). i've got a 68 mile race coming up in early march, so time to get back...

in general you are entirely correct, except when people completely overdo it on fiber. very coarse fiber or very large quantities of somewhat less coarse fiber is a very well recognized cause of intestinal obstruction. pumpkin seeds, taken in large quantities around halloween are another old favorit...

i guess i have a fairly libertarian viewpoint on this as well. <br /><br />by no means am i arguing that pot is an entirely benign substance, or that it is in some way medicinal or good for you. having been there personally, i have no doubt that if you do it too often (see: freshman year of college)...
