Hi. I'm new to rowing, having acquired a model D August 2. Since then, I've rowed over 400K meters and am loving it. It provides a nice full body workout and an indoor alternative to running that's a lot more interesting than a treadmill.

I'm enjoying logging my meters online, and have joined...

I am also developing callouses, and don't particularly mind, but I was wondering why I had twice as many on my left hand as on my right. I am right handed, also.

Training

I haven't gone strapless yet, but do most of my erging with the straps loose. If I over do it on the drive, the straps keep my feet from leaving the pads, but I don't rely on them for brakes. I think this is helping my technique. I do find that when I'm strapped in I row at a higher s/m, but my pace...

Health and Fitness

I doubt that rowing can reverse blocked arteries. Diet, exercise and some medication can slow down or even prevent blockages from occurring or getting worse. None of these factors alone is nearly as effective as a combination of all three.

I recommend having a stress echocardiogram. It is non...

OK, thanks for the input. What comes naturally to me is to breathe in during the drive and out during the recovery. When I'm sprinting, or driving hard during the last 50 meters, I can't help panting or double breathing. I was just wondering if there was a 'proper' way, because inhaling on the recov...

Tom,

I don't know which model your club has, but the newest model (D) has multiple holes for mounting the seat to the rollers- you can select holes which lengthen the travel by about an inch. This requires unbolting and rebolting the seat, but maybe your club would agree to do it for you, as ...

Weight Loss/ Weight Control

The chart may be referring to on-water rowing - the more you weigh, the more energy it takes to push the boat through the water. With Erging, I guess you could say that it takes more effort to drive a heavier person back and forth on the slide than it does to move a lighter person, but I doubt that ...
