Statins
Hi coggs, You don't mention dosage, so I'll assume you're in the middle range (most docs start their patients out at the middle range simply because that's what the drug companies suggest). If you started Zocor this spring, then you are only into it for a few months. Like Grams, I was on statins for...

Thanks for your reply. I haven't done anything as exacting as you suggest. Basically, I took my resting heart rate (upon waking up) and calculated my max HR using the C2 calculator. I then use those to determine my low and high HR for each band. I guess this method isn't very accurate as I feel it's...

Thanks, Jamie. How do you determine your best split for 500m? Is it a matter of just rowing several 500s and using the best time? Guess I'm a little green with this approach. Ted I recommend increasing the intensity. Some people in my boat in college thrived with heart-rate training. I've never been...

Heart rate training question
So, I've taken the plunge and decided to train for the CRASH-B. I've decided to use the heart rate method using training bands (UT2, UT1, AT, etc.) and am on my fourth week in the intermediate intensity section. It seems as if the heart rate bands are too low for me as it just feels too easy. I used...

Thanks Paul. I'll get the DVD and watch it. I'm a little surprised that you recommend starting with a high damper setting. Wouldn't this put more strain on my back? I usually row in the 3 to 4 range. I'll give your suggestion a shot. Are there any back strengthening exercises you recommend? Right no...

Intro and question
Hi, I used to be a regular here but left for a while to "pursue other interests." Well, I've bought a model C (after selling my old one) and am getting back into rowing with the notion of making it to the CRASH-B in February. So, it's been almost a year since I've rowed and need to get back into fig...

Flywheel squeaks
I'm new to this forum (well, not really - I used to post a couple of years ago). Anyway, I got rid of my model C a year ago in a fit of numbness and just got a used one yesterday. I was just putting the erg through its paces and all seemed fine (needs new shock cord and seat wheels, and they're on o...
