Thank you, Alisa and John. I'll let you and the Board know what I work out. I like the pivoting footboard idea.

Also, I have slides and Xeno's video. I'll work on the one-legged rowing until/unless a better, more Luddite solution comes to me.

Thanks again,

Will

Has anyone developed a way to get feedback about footplate pressure?

I broke an ankle about 20 years ago and constantly have to pay attention to maintaining equal leg pressure in my single. Of course, in a single the feedback is fairly clear and immediate. But, after a winter on the erg ...

Montclair,

I have been doing both straight- and bent-leg calf-stretches against a wall. Only put mild tension, not pain, on your calf and hold it for about 30 sec. Do both calves individually, twice per session, two sessions per day (AM and PM). I also started working more on hamstring st...

MV,

I have a similar problem stemming from an ankle I broke 20 years ago. I could not get even compression at the catch, was getting very uneven leg drive, and was losing a lot of pressure from the affected leg as a result. The affected leg and heel were bobbing up higher at the catch, so...

Tom,

I can't speak to what "normal" is, but I'm 39 and when I row in warmer, more humid weather, I seem to exceed my workout HR and my max HR rather easily. This is especially true after I take a few days off.

When it's hot or I've been on an erg break, I allow at least three w...

Thank you all for your thoughts and for sharing your experiences with slides. It seems that this may not be an uncommon problem, perhaps more so with heavier rowers. I have not checked the plastic runners for defects; maybe that will help.

I have upgraded the bungees per Xeno's suggestion...

I think Canoist (Paul) has been down the same road I have with the slides and reached a similar state of confusion. As an empiricist (he who learns the most is the one who can stand the confusion the longest), I and have tried cleaning. oiling with very light lube (C2 chain oil) and using a spirit l...

Hello All,

I have been using slides with my Model D since December 04 and have been very happy with them until lately. When I originally bought them and set them up, all I had to do was sit on the seat and my weight with the slope of the seat-rail would send the entire erg sliding up unde...

Hello all,

I cannot think of a better group to whom I might pose this question. So, pursuant to a conversation I was having with the USD (that's South Dakota) Crew Captain on the way back from the Chicago Sprints, which boat is most efficient? In other words, which boat, e.g. 8+, 4+, 4-, ...

I am in what I hope are the final throes of some virus that came on like salmonella poisoning this Saturday. My question is when can I get back on the erg? I've been using the BIRC plan, level 4, 5X/week. I broke 6:50 for the 2k last year and I'm hoping to break 6:40 this year.
