Re: first HM

Unless I punched the buttons wrong on the calculator, 1:28:01 comes out to be a pace of just under 2:05.2. If your pace for the first 10k (i.e. almost half) was 2:05, you essentially held pretty close to that for the whole piece. What time did you have as a goal?. Bob S. Now i dont feel so bad abou...

Re: Returning to erging after 15 years

Yes, you have years of fitness. But I don't think a trained rower would take up cycling to improve his performance. Maybe as a recovery exercise. But a trained cyclist would have the base attributes to perform at a reasonable level straight onto the erg. But progressing from there would improve the...

Re: Returning to erging after 15 years

I agree. Rowing makes you a better cyclist, but cycling doesn't make you a better (indoor) rower. Spells I've had incorporating erg training coincided with winning races somehow! :) The demand on the heart is huge. Almost all major muscle groups are involved in rowing, demanding an enormous volume ...

Re: Unconventional methods for improving grip

I m very new to rowing! On my first row a 10000m at the end my wrists hurt & I had some nasty blisters at the top of my palms I suspect from gripping too tightly, climbers chalk (I used to climb a lot) needs replenishing frequently due to sweat, not very practical when rowing! & messy, I used cyclin...

Re: Very first C2 row 10,000m

I just noticed that you give your location as Bracknell. Is that as in Bracknell, Berkshire? If so, you might benefit from posting on the UK C2 forum as well. It can be found at "The Rowing Company" website. It is a much more active forum than this one. Bob S Thanks Bob, yep Bracknell Berks Ill giv...

Re: Very first C2 row 10,000m

Blimey what a lot of numbers & figures they dont really mean much to me at the moment maybe they will in time, in my mind its quite simple I have good CV fitness but not much rowing strength at the moment so there are 2 ways to "move the boat at a set speed" pull harder more power per stroke low spm...

Re: Very first C2 row 10,000m

Thank Bob Ill check my drag factor next time so obviously my stroke rate is too high? & my drive/recovery ratio needs addressing & I should be using my legs with more pull? Strangely, I'm a very competent racing cyclist but after my workout my legs hurt more than my arms I put it down to the fact th...

Using PM 3 to download log card data to C2 Log?

Hi there sorry for a really stupid questions I,m very new to this. How do you log workouts to the Concept 2 website logbook using just a PM3 with the cable supplied to verify/rank workouts?
