I've been erging on and off for 6 or 7 years. Got a D last August, and averaging 10K or so per day since December, not particularly hard. I'm 57, 6'5', 245, about 7 min 10K. I've had both knees fixed, meniscus tears, a few years ago. Over past 3 weeks, I've had increasing pain in my left leg, not a ...

Hi, Erin

Splits are arbitrary divisions of, usually, the total time or distance, and they give an idea of how the whole piece was run/rowed or whatever sport you're talking about. (Splits are used a lot in track racing, because for anything longer than 440, there are multiple laps)
F...

Speaking of irregular PM readings ... I have noticed a couple of things: If I start to row from the main menu, without hitting "just row" or "select workout" or whatever, it switches to the default "everything" screen, which is blank until the second stroke (the first stroke just turns it on). The s...

Training
I made this request several years ago, and I'd like to repeat it: Even if you post a lot, and your forum pals know all about you, it's frustrating to read training tips, PBs, tales of eternal torment on the erg, etc., if I have no idea how old you are and how big you are. I read about someone who's ...

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Boston College student died
after passing out just as his rowing crew won a
competition here.
Scott Laio, a junior, collapsed Saturday as the boat
moved just past the grandstand at the Dad Vail Regatta
and under a large stone bridge.
Laio, accomp...

Out of curiousity, I want to ask: Do you mean you row a 500, get the time, start again and do the 1000, get the time ... etc., or do you check the time as you pass each point, so that, say, your 2000 consists of your 500, your 1000 and 500 more? Otherwise, your're talking about a workout of, what? 3...

I just got an erg of my own in Sept., so this is the first time in the four years I've been erging on and off that I've kept up with the daily "honor roll" per-day meters and the university/club standings -- it's fun. So, maybe it's a time-honored custom, but thousands of meters not previously logge...
