A virtual loss of 0:03/500m in just over a year? By the time you're 70, you'll have a simulated FM at 2:15. Won't that be something? Or, more likely, not?

Am I the only one disgusted with the brazen fabrication of data? Ranger never ever mentioned working with 2:34-2:35, so those data can't possibly be right.

Re: Ranger's training thread

You're on the verge of the greatest achievement in the history of sports, you'd be the talk of the town, and ... William and Kate steal the spotlight! Why, those little...! You'd be well within your rights not to show up (which, incidentally, is my prediction). http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/20...

Re: Ranger's training thread

There are only a handful of ergers, 40-70, with WR rows, and very, very few with three WR rows, as I have. Of course, you currently have no WR rows. Your old WR rows were soundly beaten. Technically, I have improved a second per 500m per year for eight years. Given that your times are almost 2 seco...

Re: Ranger's training thread

In major universities, students are in desperate need of kinder, more compassionate educators to feel their pain and flatter them into thinking they are getting an education, if they just pay enough for it. Like Rome on fire, I'm "outa here." Congratulations on being encouraged to retire, and on be...

Re: Ranger's training thread

Ranger, according to your posts, sharpening takes about 6 weeks, you started sharpening (hard sharpening, even) 8 or 9 or so weeks ago, and yet you don't think you'll be fully sharpened by BIRC. What went wrong? How could you not be fully sharpened by now?

Re: Ranger's training thread

My weight swings now are from 10% body fat (which I need to be at in order to race as a lightweight) and 15% body fat, a _healthier_ alternative, which I stay at most of the year, when I am not racing OTErg. As I mentioned, 10% body fat for a 60-year old male is considered unhealthy. So I don't sta...

Then, as a 50s lwt, I have rowed 6:28, 6:29, 6:30, 6:32, 6:32, 6:32, 6:32, 6:32, 6:33, 6:36, etc. The times above were all done fully sharpened. I haven't sharpened to race since 2003. If all of the times were done fully sharpened, and you haven't sharpened since 2003, does that mean that all of th...

That's a decline of at least 1.8 seconds a year (even assuming that you were generous in your rounding). Yike...
