At the advice of those on this forum, I started rowing strapless last year and have never gone back. On thing for sure is that my rate has dropped to between 19 and 23 SPM. It is difficult at first but as with anything if you stick with it, you'll get it!

force curve and technique

I am really trying to improve my technique. I do only strapless rowing, I have dropped my s/m to between 18-20. I noticed that my force curve has a plateau and then peaks before dropping. Is this bad? As well, my lower back is getting really sore now, it never used before. Any advice?[/img]

I wonder if rowing is as good as this? Cost is a bit a factor at $14,000.00

Thanks to all for your great advice! I did a 30 minute session yesterday, strapless, and I almost equalled a personal best. My stroke rate is way down, but my pace is much better and I am able to cover a greater distance..it is kind of wierd to be able to do so. My heart rate was up there too!

I rowed 2000 m last night, stapless and it was weird at first, but my time was not that far off of my regular time. I found that my groin was doing more work and that i was slumping when I had the straps on. My stroke rate was way down as well, from the low to mid 30' down to the low 20's.

I am fairly short at 5'7" ...does that have an impact on stroke length?

At 33-35 s/m I am doing about 6300-6500 meters. I am coming from a cycling background where a faster cadence is a good thing.

What happens is that I have so much momentum that my body slides back and feet leave the foot board) So how do I solve this? Or does it fix itself on it's own y rowing strapless?

strapless erging

How do you row without the straps? My feet always fall off the foot placements. Any advice? As well, how will strapless rowing improve my technique?

Thanks, that last explanation really seems to help. I have been only focusing on my time per 500 m but noticed that I was at about 35 spm. From what I understand, I should be way lower than that. So I have been watching my force curve and I will watch my watts to see how that helps.

watts??

Hi all, I am fairly new here, rowing since last November. I have read a bit about the watts reading on the PM3, how do I interpret this data and use it to improve my training? I apologise if this has been discussed before, the old posts are not accessible so I cannot research them. My primary goal o...
