Your rant at Dennis reminded me of the time you had your pathetic little ass whipped into 2nd place, sorry 3rd place, sorry 4th place in Amsterdam 2006. Now I really enjoyed watching that... :D

O.K.

Now I've also uploaded a video of 25 extension press ups.

Over to you.

Nope.

Just tit for tat, if you know the history of the affair, Henry.

Sorry, but sports isn't a matter of turning the other cheek, etc.

Sports is a matter of ancient values: wisdom, justice, temperance, courage.

In ancient values, justice is retributive.

Eye for an eye.

Christian values are a later, and I must say, somewhat lamentable, cultural development.

Victorian and Modern/Postmodern values are even later yet, and I must say, even _more_ lamentable.

Modern values are things like flexibility. tolerance, creativity, and humor.

The erg is a truth machine.

It doesn't care about you.

It isn't flexible.

It ain't a joke.

OK, here's a quick poll. Which of those values has Ranger ever exhibited?

My vote: NOT A SINGLE ONE.

How so?

To sample recent history.

On this thread, Dennis got his just dues.

The videos I posted this morning show how wise I have been about maintaining my skeletal-motor fitness.

Rowing is primarily skeletal-muscular, not physiological.

When I took up rowing, I did 1000 sit ups a day for about five years.

I also did 100 or so pull ups a day.

And jumped/skipped rope an hour a day.

In addition to rowing 20K.

I suspect that this is why I pull 12 SPI but Mike VB and other 60s lwts pull 9 SPI.

It took some courage to deliver on these videos.

No?

Byron is a lying wimp.

So he won't do anything of the sort.

It is now 6:15 A.M. here in Ann Arbor, MI.

I have already rowed 20K. Done the videos. Had some breakfast. And am now ready for a 50-mile bike ride.

A pretty stiff physical regimen.

Wouldn't you say?

A little temperance goes a long way.

Modern sedentary lifestyles are sick.

Avoid them at all cost.

It is the only wise thing to do, if you have the courage to buck up to the better alternative.

:D :D

Mike VB--

How is your skeletal-motor fitness?

Let's see 50 jackknives.

That is a good test of core quickness, strength, and endurance.

Let's see 25 extension press ups.

That is a _great_ test of full-body power--core, upper body, legs, all at once.

P.S. Mike: Can you do even one extension press up? Can you even lift yourself off the ground?

I am a _great_ "ambassador" for the sport of indoor rowing.

As participants, Dennis and Mike no longer play any prominent role in the sport whatsoever.

Dennis has quit entirely.

Mike rows badly.

So it goes.

At one point, both Dennis and Mike seemed to know what they were doing, at least in a limited way.

No longer.

Neither have a hope in hell of rowing at the levels that I am rowing at now.

Neither could come within 10 seconds of the WRs in their age and weight divisions.

My goal is 6:16 at 60, which will best the 60s lwt WR by 26 seconds.

Ah, that was what you were doing turning up at minor venues and not competing. Well done

BTW, I just did 100 jackknives, 50 extension press-ups and 40 pull ups. Piece of cake.

Glancing at the content this am:
Just more mean-spirited posts from ranger... why is this? What generates this angst?

I think I know.... and it's not pretty.

Bottom line: ranger training has proven nothing.
He says he can & will do certain things but never does them. The last time he faced anyone of nearly equal skills was 5 years ago
The fact remains All highly trained men still get slower on the erg as they age from 52 to 62... ranger is no different.

It's laughable that he thinks it takes 5 years to learn how to row a stationary self-powered watt generator.
Pathetic too. Especially since he's been on the machine for 10 years.

Has anyone notices that no one even bothers to discuss the merits of ranger's crank theories anymore?
Yet more evidence that this is not a training thread. It is a tantrum fest by disgruntled old men.

Why not change your spots, RIchard? Post some workouts so we'll have something to talk about.
How about that 10x2k/1:00r at UT your were going "to try" to get done weeks ago?
The result would be that you'd get some respect rather derision...

Or, you can elect to hide facts from those who hang on here... Either way you remain a former WR holder in the 50-54 lwts, a 6:41 erg (last year), and a 7:02 erg this year...
Pretty darn simple.

Is it true that, because of some unexplained foot-dragging, you have not attempted to get the 60-64 lwt title yet?
If you broke Brian Bailey's effort, doesn't it have to be done at an official C2 sanctioned event? What's on the calendar for you?
You've said that "good training" involves dropping down one distance at a tine from the FM
Your record for ever doing this is nil.
Why is this?

BTW: I do not think that this maverick approach is worth the effort. Nor does anyone else do it... especially old men like us.

Be that as it may: Why not pop a 5k at 1:48 pace and post it including your HR figures every 1k? That would indicate your progress toward the FM.

Yet, it seems you've abandoned attempting any nonstop IND_V FM this spring (at any weight) :? That's confusing too, after all the posting thru the winter.
