Which keeps you just beyond my reach. I invited your nemesis, Heather Ramsay, to join us year-round to make life for you & me more interesting. (Her meters are just more than me, just less than you.)
I would like to move into the Top 10 on the Affiliation Standings board, and we are oh, so close. (Before The Big Bang, we were #9.) I'm not going to do extra meters just for that since I started my "training period", so I need to balance my strength workouts, my long aerobic rows, my shorter speed bursts, my anaerobic "tempo" work, etc.

There's no amazing story here, but here's the history:
We were a break-off from "The Ancients Organization - Timbuktu" designed to be available for anybody & everybody, so Pat M named us TimbukTOO to honor that link. The "team" for team challenges was named Timbuk2 to avoid confusion. When Pat left, she folded the Timbuk2 team, so we replaced it with TimbukTWO.

So we are not Timbuk2?
I joined because of the great membership and leadership, of course.
But the name jumped out because of the brand name- and that was the original hook.
Timbuk2 makes great bags and purses- both for women and for men. They are a SF Company- have a store in Hayes Valley.
My wife, oldest son and I use their products.

'Have to get back to the boat-hope I pick the right one.

HMmm. Bags and purses fot men from SF.

Well, uhum, back on topic, I was thinking to join the year long team after having a joyous time during the Fall Challenge. I know my meters this round are an individual challenge but I figure they may as well count for something. I expect to do 200,000 this time (did 153,something for the FC) so I can contribute to your daily total here. I too have back off to every other day and adding in some weights since the FC but I will re-arrange for this challenge and drop down again when it's over.

Where do I sign???

Please join us! If you go to your Edit Profile page and scroll down a bit, you'll see a place where you can select your affiliation. Pick TimBukTOO and save changes, and you should then show up on the affiliation page. And ba-da-bing, you'll be on our daily reports!!

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL the various Timbuktu-ians!!
I must step in here and clarify the way that the TimbukTOO/Timbuk2 saga began. It was several years ago when I first rowed with a virtual team. Before many of you were here as well.I rowed in a Challenge that was my first and I managed to row well over 1 million meters.I was then on my own..and didn't have an affiliation.I was recruited to the Ancients and they had formed a new boat called Timbuktu.Great boat and great team. But was only open to those of a certain ancient age.The young set was not a part of this team.Very restrictive. When there was the chance for me to start a new CHALLENGE team..I started Timbuk2.Not as an affiliation/year round team but a challenge team. This team brought a huge following and was young and old.New and seasoned rowers. The team was huge and we did well.had such spirit.I wanted to continue this spirit year round so to make a "sister" boat..formed TimbukTOO..part of a very nice friendly fleet.Hence..the Ancients( Timbuktu)..TimbukTOO..for all interested and all ages to continue a year long rowing experience. We had such a great comraderie going. Then Timbuk2 continued and was THE challenge boat of the fleet. Not really confusing if you follow the story.
Time went on..some drama occurred and as in all boats..rowers came and rowers went.
Timbuk2 got disbanned due to leadership exchange and the name got changed to keep the spirit alive. Many stayed and many joined and a new captain appeared and you have it as it now is.
Names have changed but the spirit has evolved and new rowers have joined to share their awesomeness and experiences.
I began these additions to the fleet and I smile to see the boat just keep rowing with the love of erging and team spirit.
Thanks for continuing the Timbuktu-ian saga ..I am thankful for the rowing community and all the friends that it brings together from here and across the pond!!

Heather's not a nemesis, but a driving force to get my fat a** off the couch (no canning couches jokes please) and get some mileage in. If she's just behind me, I hope I don't fall too far behind as she blows on by :)

Shouldn't that be "Timbuktoonies" or "Timbuktunies" to make it scan better.

I was not confused until you got to the above quote. Timbuk2 got disbanned and the name changed? To what??? I thought it was still Timbuk2 for the Challenge team.

After 7 months of road cycling, walking, hiking and running, I wanted to re-introduce myself to everyone. I've been logging some meters off and on over the last couple of months and I think my body is back into the rowing groove. I plan on getting in a minimum of three sessions a week and am looking forward to cruising past the 500k meter mark and making a big dent in the million meter club between now and next Spring.

I've modified my training and diet since last March. Instead of 60-70% carbs (mostly from wheat and grains) I'm around 20% carbs with the rest coming from natural fats (about 50%) and protein (25-30%). I've cut out all wheat and most all other grains and processed foods (I still enjoy a beer or two several times a week). The results on my body and blood have been very positive. I'm leaner and stronger. My energy level is increased and I sleep better. HDL went from 66 to 85 and fasting blood sugar and triglycerides went down, all while eating full-fat dairy, meat, butter and eggs! My main workout objective now is to get stronger over time instead of "redlining" it every workout. I've also started doing a lot of body-weight exercises such as pushups, pullups, planks and squats.

Oh, Pam will probably be getting on the C2 here pretty soon as well so we can be a "rowing" couple again!

I'm looking forward to re-engaging with the community here and participating in the Holiday and team challenges. Go team TimbukTOO!
